Induction: Textual Analysis for Movie Poster

This is a poster of the Indiana Jones movie which has a man standing in front of a fire in a cave. It connotes that he is going on mission in which he will encounter danger as the fiery skull implies and he is walking in to danger because of the steps leading into the skull which is why his fist is clinched to defend himself. His costume is a tan shirt and trousers with vintage swede hat. This makes me think that he is going on an adventure where he will have to pass through trouble, also it seems like he is an archaeologist adventuring for something. His props is a whip his signature weapon, a gun and a small bag. This props give me the idea that he is going to be faced with danger throughout his journey and he needs to protect himself to succeed and the bag connotes that he has tools as an archaeologist does so he can search for what he is looking for. The lighting is low key giving a dark and dim effect about what he about to get into, also it make me think that he will be faced with dark people and simply working in caves allot of the time throughout the movie. The Non-verbal communication of this poster is Indiana Jones has a very masculine and powerful stance and this is exaggerated by the low angle shot which makes him look bigger. Also his fist is clinched together tightly. This indicates to me that he is someone you don't want to mess around with and in the movie he will be getting into trouble with dangerous people which he has to defend himself from.
